there are many great choices out there right now for somebody wanting a nice euphonium for $1500 or less. Here are some choices.

King 2280- rapidly becoming my favorite. 4 valves in line, which is nice for a tuba player. Large bore, large shank. Dark tone

VMI/schmidt- seem to be a nice horn, but you would have to play several of them. I have played 4 of them. One was nice, one was sharp up high, and the other two I thought played a little stuffy.

Besson 765- I know, I know. some people hate them. I have heard it all. valves hang, leadpipe leaks, BUT, try before you buy and it can be a great horn for the money, and it has the 3+1 layout. the last 3 I have played have been great.

Weril- never played one, but have heard many good comments, so it would worth checking out if you like the 4 in line set up.
