Joseph, your thoughts are some of the most valuable two-cent's worth I get here. I just got a B&S 4196 (PT4P) and was quite taken with how (as my coach said) it plays itself. It also forces me to do a lot of the things my coach teaches me in order to produce a consistent and palatable sound. THAT dynamic in turn is raising the level of my play on my big horns immensely, and has contributed a lot to my motivation in practice, rehearsal, and performance.
It may well be a LONG time before I can get the most out of these tubas, but thankfully there's SOMEthing about this B&S that is getting more out of ME.
