Someone who is already in an orchestra and auditioned for the New Mexico position stopped by my store this week. He reported to me that the audition was held in one of those boomy old churches where one can neither hear the ends of notes nor the beginnings of the next ones, much less be able to discern how loud one is actually playing.
Congratulations to Steve Campbell and to anyone who is able to sort out sounds when playing in such rooms.
