I own a 2165. I like it more then the Rudy, but that really shouldn't mean a lot to you. It was just the right horn for me at the right time. I wouldn't count out the 2165 because Mr Deck doesn't use it anymore. It is a fine horn, just as the others you are considering are.
The 2165 has a very beautiful low register that speaks very clearly. The horn is not especially agile in the extreme low register, though I found the sound good enough that I was willing to work on my mobility down there.
Actually, it might be worth your while to take a look at the 2155. A student friend of mine owns one and it is a fabulous tuba. It projects extremely well, and thumbs its nose at the low range issues with the 2165. Just a thought.
