Beethoven did not write any tuba parts because it did not exist. Gustav Mahler reorchestrated Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and added a tuba part. I heard it performed by the Brooklyn Philharmonic in Carnegie Hall about nine years ago and it was incredible.
Remember, those great tuba parts in Mussorgsky's 'Pictures' were from a 'third party' orchestration also, but that is now the standard repertoire. Too bad the Mahler arrangement didn't take off.
