If you really want a St. Pete tuba.com is a reasonable alternative and the guy over there is quite friendly, helpful and responsive to e-mail. Follow the exchange of US dollars to German marks for a while and watch for a chance to save serveral bucks. Check out some of the testimonials on his site and talk to those people too.
I don't know much about the finer points of playing a tuba; I haven't played much since getting out of high school 20 years ago so some (most?) of what is discussed here goes over my head at about mach 3. Those of us who are "recreational" players have a different set of needs and expectations that some of the really serious players who post here, primarily the economics of our hobby.
