Depends on the size of the horn and the case. If it is one of those Yamer-Hammer 621 jobies then it is fairly small. For the most part you would need to use a gig bag. Personally, I rarely use my hard case. It sits and gathers dust until I need to fly.
I have never experienced, or known of anyone who has experienced, any real problems with using a gig bag for everything. Lugging a case around is tedious.
