Hey Howard, relax. No malice intended. It just so happened that my post popped up seconds after yours or I may have worded it differently. Jeez, man! Can't we all just get along.
You must admit too many people spread themselves too thin when it comes to learning doubles. It's my opinion that until you reach a competent level on one instrument, it may be counterproductive to try to pick up another. I'm sure Mr. Mulcahy was a wonderful trombonist before he even thought about picking up a bass trumpet. There is also something to be said about the relative size of the mouthpieces. Sure, a trombonist can double on euphonium with no problem. But going from tuba to trumpet may pose problems for still impressionable players.
I'm dissappointed that you are so fragile. I will try to tone down the language a bit.
