When I bought my tuba, I flew out to California to try it out. After purchasing it, we went through several different ideas on how to get it home, considering it was in a gig bag. After all the price comparisons, we realized, Hey, for the amount it takes to ship it, We can just buy a seat for it on the airplane, which is what we did. We took it onto the airplane, (with one flight attenedent making a remark, I dont think that will fit in the overhead compartments,) Seatbelted it in to the aircraft (granted, 6 people were on the flight) and flew it home. I think that was alot safer then trusting a shipping company. Plus we got to preboard, because we bought a kids pass for it, (another stupid attendent saying, is the tuba under 5 yrs old, well, yes it is. Ok, go ahead and pre board, ) Well thats my two cents worth.
