I think (?) I understand what you are saying. When I recently purchased new B flat and C trumpets, I tested, side by side, trumpets by Bach, Benge, Besson, Yamaha, and B&S. The B&S trumpets won hands down. They were also significantly LESS expensive than the other brands. Whether we like a million dollar horn is only part of the equation. There may very well be another million dollar horn out there that costs a lot less. I firmly believe there are tubas just as good or better than Hirsbrunners but which cost much less. This is not a criticism of Hirsbrunner quality. Anybody that owns and plays one has probably made a very good musical decision; but, possibly not a thrifty decision.
