I have experienced this problem with students many times over the years. It's nothing to worry about. Singing, with your best sound, seems to help train the opening to the nasal passage to close. Also, mouthpiece buzzing is helpful. Don't be embarassed if you're not ready for the Met, just sing. This is not a quick fix, but it does work. Good luck and be patient.
