I'm in exactly the same boat. I'm currently a double major, Music and Engineering. I'm just finishing my freshman year, and I've made my decision. I've looked back on this year, and ALL my time was spent in the music building, and I avoid the engineering buildings like the plague. I'm comfortable with the people in the music department, and I like hanging with all of them. I don't think I have more than two or three friends in the engineering buildings. What it comes down to for me is this: I love music, and I put the time in, and I do the work, and, while it's hard and the view inside a practice room occasionally gets a little old, I love to do it. But to sit down and do the assignments for my engineering classes... well, I usually don't. After this year, I'm quite certain that i will have much more success in a musical field, if for no other reason than it's the field where I'm not only willing to put in the work to succeed, but I want to.
That's been my experience anyway.
