Hi Chase... I just responded to an email from you but now that I see why you were interested in an EEb Miraphone, I would like to offer an opinion....

About the only time I use my Miraphone 183-4 in a concert band setting is if the number in the band is quite small.... more like an ensemble than a band. Maybe 16-18 pieces. For playing in larger concert bands I use a BBb horn like my large German Carl Wunderlich 4V upright or a Martin BBb 'mammoth' sousa. Now, for Dixieland work, I DO use an EEb horn but it's a huge old King with 4 front pistons. The Miraphone EEb is a wonderful solo and small ensemble horn but doesn't have the big 'bottom end' that I like for Dixie or concert band work. I think the same would be true for any small EEb or F horn. I'll get flamed for saying this, but I would not consider an F tuba for anything other than solo work.
