Most top 12 corps lines are set. A great Div II or III may be up your alley. I am the Visual Caption Head at Eklipse from Hopkinsville, KY. We practice at Murray State Universtiy, making our camp facilities better than any corps I taught or marched over the years. We have 40+% of the hornline are either all-state musicians or are college music majors. The drum staff is from Marion Cadets, the Div III drums caption winner. Even 5 of 6 visual staff members are professional brass players, 6 of 6 have drum corps experince. If you want to be a real player someone will be there to help you.

And speaking from experience...I became a much better player over the summers marching drum corps. You have to practice on your own to keep up your range, but most people do practice a little during lunch, dinner, and end of the night shower breaks.
