... occasionally the "beep" of the electronic tuners is perceived by some users as having it's own pitch which can be disconcerting. Mechanical metronomes (and the older Franz units) have an atonal "click". Other than that (and of course the traditional aura inherent to the older pyramid styled models which causes me to still use one) the electronic models are smaller, more reliable, and in general superior.
