Also....silly question....but if you use a LOT more air, does it improve things? (These are things I went through trying to decide what my own problem was on the french horn. (which was in mid-low range; high range was no problem.) On tuba, where it was also occuring, it was totally lack of muscle tone. Being a switch hitter makes the problems more complex.

Once again, best of luck. sorry to blather on so, but been there, done that recently, and want to help. I've also seen players who are approaching elderly (i.e., 80) who just can't keep the muscle tone up enough any more; the physical capability is just not there. Since I don't know how old you are....I'll just throw that in.
