I'm assuming you have a BBb? If so, our low register difficulties sound very similar (pretty much anything using the 4th valve). I've gotten to the point where I can get the notes to speak fine (esp in a lyrical context up to a good, solid forte). However, whenever I try to make them SHOUT, the horn backs up on me. Maybe it is me after all. Re tuning, it seems to get worse as I spend more time on the horn. The 3rd partial gets flatter, as do the 6th and 8th partials. However, soundwise, things are getting better. I'm starting to find the "sweet spot" for each note. Thanks for your input.
