Well . . . pretty much the same exact tunes and basic harmonies. But doesn't barbershop harmony stray from diatonic stuff - like lots of secondary dominants? I always thought of barbershop harmonic treatment as being slightly more varied than its source material. Maybe the secret is in the voicing of the good quartets; I know that chord voicing is part of that sound. Lots of 7ths though; more than when I play straight traditional jazz.

Ever play tuba for a large banjo band convention? That is a hoot! Kinda like Shriners with instruments!
