The VPO uses the indiginous Wiener F-horns with the pumpen valves, while the VSO horn section doesn't. There's also an excellent radio orchestra in Vienna. In my opinion, they're the strongest from a purely technical standpoint. They certainly have the most modern and updated percussion section of the three. I've seen both the VPO and VSO numerous times, and the radio orchestra just once.
