Say that the 8th grader's folks don't want to ship him and tuba by plane or go for a long drive. Is there anything at UT? Other places in TN? Vandy? Maybe just lessons with someone else -- because another person can say exactly the same thing, but one tunes out parents, and one's own band director, own private teacher, etc. It's not enough in Michigan in the summer that the thought of camps in the South or Southwest seem like torture to me.
