Hot water will not ruin or in any way damage the rotors. They are made of brass just like the casings, and will expand and contract with the casings. And even if they expanded from being hot, they would shrink again when back to room temperature. There is no problem here.

The reason for the advice not to use hot water is that it will ruin regular nitro-cellulose lacquer.

So, you've given good advice, but for a different reason than the one you cite.
