It depends on the band and the level at which they're playing. Most likely, since he plays a BBb tuba, they're going to hand him a BBb folder and wish him godspeed. In much of the more intermediate to advanced music, the Eb part is quite different from the Bb bass. The band may already have their two Eb players.
