Roger Lewis at Brasswind told me when I visited that the 289 was essentially a combination of the 189 angled valve set with the 191 bows and bell. Looking at the verbal description of it at the Miraphone website would seem to confirm that. Other than that, I don't think anyone in the US has seen one, not even Roger. There may be some European players that have one, but if so they are camera shy.
I thought the 189 was the most comfortable tuba I have ever played when I tried it out. Maybe I'll be ready to buy when this new horn hits the states.
