Furthermore, I'd bet that finding a rotary tenor tuba in England in the 1920's when Holst composed the work would be quite a challenge.

According to Bevan, Holst wrote the part originally in treble-clef, so there's not much doubt that he intended it to be played by a brass-band euphoniumist. He was a trombonist, and would have known the difference.
