One of my students had one and made very good progress with it. In addition to generally good intonation and response it has one of the best "false pedal" low Eb's of any tuba I have tried. I fixed up a couple of very beat-up Olds tubas, just making them playable, and sold them easily to satisified customers. They are very well-built and easy to repair. One thing I did notice was that the third valve tubing is too long, so that Gb and Db fingered 2&3 tend to be flat. Removing about an inch and a quarter from each side of the 3rd valve tubing was easy and solved the problem. I really wish somebody like Weril would start making clones of that model.
