A couple of web site that I have used are helpful. Expidia.com and Orbitz.com will search a number of airlines for the best rates. You already have seen that the cheap deals don't last long. So start shopping early and when you find a price that's right, book it and don't fret that maybe a slightly better deal might come up. There are some other things that you should know. Certain days of the week and times of departure are sometimes cheaper than others, so explore different options. Be as flexible as possible. You could save enough flying a day or two earlier than necessary to pay for the hotel and have more time to sight see. Consider flying as far as England then using a rental car or train, but Budapest may be a bit spendy for that option, but maybe Vienna would save some money. There are sometimes a few really cheap flights that are open just certain dates, explore those options. You just have to do some work and compare prices to see what, if anything, is available and will work for you.
