All I know is that the 2950 works for me.

Last year I tried every horn I could get my hands on. Hirsbrunners, Willsons, Yamahas, Bessons, and even a Stirling and MW.

I'm mainly a bass trombonist, but play euph in a couple of community bands. I use a Doug Elliott mouthpiece on the 2950, that has the same rim (Schilke 59) as by bass trombone mouthpiece, but with a shallower cup (like a Bach 1 1/2G). I find that with a big mouthpiece, the Willson's intonation was the best I could find. I just love the sound of this horn. I previously tried my old euph mouthpiece (Giardinelli 3GM), and it just didn't have the warmth, flexiblilty, and core as the bigger mouthpiece.

But like others have said, no horn and mouthpiece configuration will work the same for two different people. Play a bunch of horns, and bring someone with you, whose opinion you value.
