I don't have my study Bible here at school (I left it here once and didn't have it on sunday--oops), but I think it's a Greek word used typically in a Biblical context. Obviously from the title, this piece is written with a strong religious theme/mood.
Of course, I'm basing that just on the title. I've never seen the piece myself. But even if it looks easy, I imagine the difficulty would be in getting the right "mood" down for the performance.
