As for your polish question, I have found that Blue Magic works very well. It's available in liquid form in the automotive section at Wal-Mart and is safe for all metals, including lacquered finishes. It is also available in a paste form, but I've only found it at automotive stores and both are sold as mag wheel polish. The paste seems to work better on stubborn stains, but the liquid works great for all around use. Hope this helps.
