I rushed into buying a Sterling when I was young because of the price. I thought it was pretty good at the time but after 3 years I had to get rid of it. I found the intonation very hard to work with and I could never get a good sound out of the low range. Now, I did like the high range up to high Eb. It really popped out. Also, compared to most other horns, the Sterlings are heavy, if you get tired easily. I play on a Willson 2900 now and can't believe that I didn't buy one in the first place. Carroll does sound good on his Sterling though.
