I am glad they are not talking about me. I am not in a community band at the moment. I can see myself telling other players what part to play and divis and stuff. I don't like to play without that stuff being worked out beforehand, so I don't wait for someone else to talk about it...I bring it up. If someone plays incorrect styles in a march, I call them on it, although I try to do it in a nice tone. Sometime that doesn't matter, though.
I think you are dealing with speculation a bit too much here. Go find out for yourself what the situation is. let us know. You might end up sitting next to a kick a$$ player that you really like and get along with...and might become life long friends. Who knows. Just hope you don't sit next to me, cause I can be an ass...but its usually to other sections, not the tuba section.
