I remember seeing Charles Villaruba from Rhythm and Brass having a huge piece of foam rubber taped onto that detachable bell horn of his. It looked kinda like a piece of a foam bed mattress and I am not sure if it was for protection or for comfort�either way, it was not pretty, but I am sure its beauty was not related to its effectiveness.
