I also have the cinch belt around the middle of the bag. What causes the problem is the placement of the straps on the back. It makes my horn sit too high up on my back so that it has no stability. When I adjust the bag so that it's not as high up, it hits my legs when I try to walk. I have that loop sewn in that same place, which I use as an extra handle while using the shoulder strap. I really couldn't tell you what else it would be used for.
