I will (may?) be tackling this piece later this year. I have borrowed the Steven Seward recording (on his huge 5/4 Rudy CC, no less;) and all the printed music was given to my by Dr. David Holsinger himself. When I asked him about the piece, he pretty much described the it as being written for "screech tuba." Outside of having to hit double high C (I can comfortably buzz the Bb below it, hopefully I can add another two half steps in six months), what other advice can anyone out there give me on it who has SUCCESSFULLY pulled it off? The biggest challenge seems to be to make music out of it and not just pound out high notes.

Thanks,
Marty "who will be attempting it on a smallish 4/4 CC" Neilan
