Well, Klaus, I appreciate being given credit for being well-meaning, but I really do think that you have earned the honor of the fundamentalist title. I do believe that I have presented a pragmatic approach.

As a designer and builder of tuning sticks for various tubas, I can say that these devices do not necessarily promote better tuning. And by the time you have them designed and fabricated for you, you could have bought a tuba that wouldn't need them in the first place. That is an imminently pragmatic approach. Building an array of such devices for a Conn 10J being used as a beginner tuba while shopping for something better seems to me an sterling example of fundamentalism.
