I am considering trying out for a local community band which has regularily participated in band competitions. While the band has a very good reputation (and does have an audition process), I was concered about the issue of focusing on just a couple of pieces for competition as opposed to playing a wider variety of music for a concert series.
Just wondering what others have experienced with "competitive" bands as opposed to "concert" bands.
