Mental focus when practicing can't last for a single 4-5 hour block. Break the practice time up over the entire day. 1 hour in the morning, another 1 hour around 11:00 or so, another hour at 2:00, another at 5:00, another at 7:00, and one more before going to sleep for the night. You are only practicing for 1 hour at a time, and even more importantly, there is little time between sessions. The longest break should be no more than 12 hours, which allows for plenty of sleep. Your body will always be in a playing state and less energy will be wasted during the "warm-up" period of each session. Efficiency in the last 2 hours of the day will shoot way up because your body and mind will be in heightened states. Those last 2 hours are really when, I believe, most of the "breakthroughs" happen. The first 1-3 hours are enough to keep a players abilities at a steady level of readiness. Next 2-3 hours are where advancement happens.

Try it out for several weeks, just to get a sense of how it works. If you decide that you don't like the accelerated improvement then you can always go back to 1-3 hours per day.
