Hey, with Ron Howard winning an oscar, etc...

(yeah, this is dumb, but) I've always wondered who wrote all of that incidental music to "The Andy Griffith Show" that sounded like Persichetti. Apparently Earle Hagen ("Harlem Nocturne", book about film scoring, et al.) wrote the whistling theme, but did he also write all of that background stuff that sounds like Persichetti? I've also seen the name Dave Grusin mentioned, but I've never been smart enough to pay attention to the credits at the end of an episode.

Does anyone know who wrote that incidental Andy Griffith Show stuff, and why it all sounds like Persichetti?
