Hold the phone... I'm not willing to let this subject end because I think you're sending a very dangerous message.
you can talk all you want about 'the joy of music' but what it's coming down to is obeying or disobeying copyright laws. The important factor is that composers have a right to the joy of music too, and it's this very joy that drives them to sell music for money, not greed (if they can make a living composing, they can dedicate all their time to it). The best part of music IS free...the enjoyment we get out of it. But life is NOT free...and the main issue here is obtaining sheet music 'for free' and thereby circumventing the process which allows composers the freedom to continute composing. This is THEFT, not LIFE. Those who save their money and purchase their own music SHOULD feel proud, because they are accepting the services of the composer without discarding his rights as trivial and restrictive. Those who photocopy music will hopefully at least understand the potential consequences of their actions.
