Conn literature in the 20's and 30's indicates both 24" and 26" bells were available for the 38K and 40K, with 24" bells typical in earlier years but 26" bells standard by the mid-30's (with 28" standard and 30" and 24" available for the 48K), I assume 24" bells were available for the 20K and 24K as well.

Of course, the brass has changed. And surely it was heavier (thicker) in the old days, and perhaps there have been minor changes such as those you mention in the bracing and leadpipe. But, the fundamental designs haven't changed for almost 80 years, with the only real innovation being the short action valves some 60 years ago.

There have been more changes in trumpet design in the past 80 years than in sousaphones. Tuba design has been much busier, but the sousaphones remain very much the same as they were when Harding was president.
