Carlton grew up in St Albans Queens ,NYC he went to the H.S. of music and art in Manhattan. I played with him in the AllCity Band In the early 70's he would be about 45.
As far as a player ,someone in an earler posting said(in my opinion) that he would have been the best ever . At 17 he played in the Philly orchestra He played on a W.E. Sear piggy, and could play anything. I heard him play violin pieces on it,and trumpet duets where written(with trumpet players).I know he hit some hard times and his playing ability diminished quite a bit. I would love to know what happend to him. He had the technic of Pat Sheridan And The Musicality of John Fletcher. If he would have stayed on a straight path he would have been on every list.
