For years I played a Boosey & Hawkes F/CC compensating tuba. Although there was no difficulty in producing the notes below the bass clef staff any note below C or Bb
did not contain much fundamental. The same is true for most Eb tubas but they maintain
their fundamental one tone lower. Etc for the CC, BB and EEE tubas. If you play the top line in bands the F tuba is great and it is the most agile of brass instruments. Much more than euphoniums, horns and trumpets! However, I think it best to get a compensatng F
tuba. The one I like most is the new Yamaha.
