Also helps to know if this is going to be your only horn. I would imagine if you already own a good CC or BB flat that an F would be useful for solos etc, but if you're only going to have one horn, an E flat is a reasonable 'all-round' tuba.
I've used an E flat for solos, quintets, orchestras, large wind bands and jazz. There aren't many people who could say their F tuba is that versatile!
