John Fletcher was tubist with Philip Jones Brass Ensemble, London Symphony Orchestra and many other groups. The Gregson Tuba Concerto was written for him and the Besses o'th Barn brass band (my old band). He played a Besson EEb and a Holton CC (rarely). He is the tuba on many of the Williams famous soundtracks (Star Wars etc.)
I think his best work was with PJBE, some of the playing on these albums is nothing short of stunning, although I prefer his recordings of the Vaughan Williams and Gregson Tuba Concertos over the others (IMHO etc.).
