It is being shipped to me for a play test. Matt said he recently modified the slide for the 4th valve (I think) and that it needed to be tapered or something to help the note lock in, and that the low C was much better now.

So yes, the tuba chooses you. We'll see. I agree that this size tuba would be best for me, and I value high quality. I play an E. Schmid french horn, and am accustomed to that level of quality.

BTW, the little Eb that I bought from Lee Stofer, has served its purpose very well. I needed something inexpensive to find out if I like playing tuba, and if I could learn the different embouchure within a reasonable time. It has served its purpose very well, without causing me excessive wallet distress. I have been able to just play it without having to mess with ergonomics or worry about dings while I'm getting used to manouvering it around.
