Mr T-Rod the Geek,
Yes it is a legit Holiday and untill recently was actively celebrated complete with a seminar at Millersville Unv. out Lancaster way (PA)courtesy of Dr. Sy Brandon who ,unfortunately for the College, is retired and the new Low Brass Prof does not carry the Banner for it. It was a nice addition to the Tuba Christmas concert but since Sy left Millersville it no longer is an event. Joel Day the founder of the Holiday, resides in Australia I believe and may or may not be having success with the event. It is a nice way to recognize the Tuba players but has not caught on like Tuba Christmas. The Music is available through Tuba Press on the WWW.ITEAONLINE.ORG web site. My good friend Mr Chuck Neidhardt was Joel Days High School Band Director for the original International Tuba Day Concert which was in Lower Merion HS Pa. We both currently play Tuba with The Montgomery County Concert Band in Pa and maybe we will take up the cause since Millersville hasn't. Maybe you could host an event in your area? Good luck with it if you do
