the big names are
Roger Bobo, John Fletcher, Harvey Phillips, Arnold Jacobs, Bill Bell

the new(er) virtuosos are
Pat Sheridan, Sam Pilafian

that's seven.. .

Tony Kniffen made the finals of Chicago at only 18. . . and, of course, Pokorny won it (1988)

that's nine. . .

Warren Deck or Floyd Cooley probably deserve to be there. . .

but then again I'm sure that Tommy Johnson and Jim Self deserve to be there, too (probably the most heard tuba players with all the movies and The Flintstones :) )

there is of course no definitive answer. . . you might have to get down to categories to get the best of each (orchestra, solo, jazz/dixie, studio/movies, quintet/chamber, all around, etc). . . I'm sure I've left of some people that I love but this was off the top of my head. . .
