The only ascending valves, that I have seen have been on French style French horns.

In my ideology a 4 valve compensating euph or tuba with an ascending 5th valve would be an ideal instrument.

The valve set up should be 3+2 pistons. The 5th valve should be conical, at least throught its slide bow, such as it is seen in the 4th valves of Yamaha and Sterling, and maybe more, euphs.

An ascending valve in the leadpipe hardly would be interesting. At least in my ideology.

Whether the idea will work with a 4 valve non-comper is quite another matter. Wouldn’t it be better to let the ascending be a 6xt valve after the standard long whole step 5th?
