The quintet that I play in (Great Basin Brass) has been doing this hose routine for the past 20 years or so. The kids just love it! We play the Olympic Fanfare (old version). The trumpet hoses are about 4.5', trombone 9', horn 12' (the optimal lenght for making music) and the tuba hose about 18'. We don't put a funnel in the end. The diameters of the hoses just need to fit the shanks of the mouthpieces. I can'r remember but I think I made mine (tuba) out of washing machine supply hose (or was that the trombone?). Once you have the hoses all you need is to tune them with a snip snip here and a snip snip there.

Have fun!
