Tyvek is an unwoven cloth material, which isn't at all like the stuff used to house old floppy disks. That stuff seems similar to Formica, but without the laminate substrate.

I'd bet that a smooth Formica disk could be glued to the face of the Dent Eraser, and it would remain smooth and tough for some time, if that is what you want. It is quite hard, and therefore popular with telescope makers for bearing plates. Don't use heat to melt the glue when you need to replace the disk--heat will ruin the magnet.

But it seems to me that part of the trick with the Dent Eraser is that the surface material allows the brass to be pulled a bit beyond its desired shape. Were it not so, it would be really hard to get the brass pulled up--it would always spring back a bit. If this is the objective, then plain felt, replaced frequently, might do just as well as the stuff it comes with. Adhesive felt in various thickness is cheap and readily available.
